TIMBER BANKS: LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE.
Timber Banks is one man’s vision of the perfect place to live. It may be yours, too – especially if you’ve always dreamed of having a home nestled on the outskirts of a world-class golf course, and your preferred method of transportation is watercraft.
Centrally located in Baldwinsville, New York, Timber Banks is situated on 887 acres (240 acres are Forever Wild) along the shores of the Seneca River. A marina was a given. Timber Banks features a 65-slip marina that can accommodate boats 20 to 40 feet in length, and then some. The Seneca River is a conduit of the Barge Canal, Erie Canal, and Cayuga-Seneca Canal systems, granting boaters access to all major waterways.
Par for the Course
The 18-hole golf course that weaves around the residential portion of the property was also a must-have for developer Gary Pooler, of Pooler Enterprises. Pooler admits he had been secretly coveting the golf courses his company constructed for customers over the years. “We’ve built a bunch of golf courses for customers, and I’ve always wanted to have my own,” he said. Timber Banks Golf Club – the first Nicklaus Design Championship golf course in Upstate New York – opened in 2010.
“The golf course is very well received,” Pooler said. Timber Banks Golf Club has already hosted several U.S. Open qualifiers and countless tournaments.
Something for Everyone
Timber Banks residents also have 24-hour access to an on-site clubhouse, which features a small movie theater, an exercise facility, a business center, and a gathering room. There is also an outdoor, heated pool and a hot tub. To sweeten the pot, Timber Banks will soon be the home of a 100,000-square-foot YMCA, scheduled to open in Spring 2015.
To complete the picture, sidewalks line quiet streets and nature trails offer easy access to native flora and fauna. It’s easy to forget that shopping is just minutes away, and Syracuse is a short commute.
Built to Suit
While Pooler was busy with his vision, a 198-apartment complex was being constructed on 14 acres of the scenic property. The Hammocks at Timber Banks is made up of nine buildings and offers a homey respite, where residents can hang their hats after a round of golf or a day on the water. The Hammocks offers one-, two-, or three-bedroom options (furnished or unfurnished), which range from 910 to 1,400 square feet.
If renting isn’t for you, Timber Banks offers other housing options. New construction villas, townhomes, and cottages already dot the property. One-story villas range from 1,270 to 1,550 square feet and two-story townhouses range from 1,641 to 1,670 square feet. Cottage homes range from 1,266 to 1,636 square feet. All three options offer homeowners a maintenance-free lifestyle.
Bill and Dottie Tweedy were among the first to purchase a cottage home. “And we absolutely love it!” Tweedy said. Specifically, he and his wife of 46 years love being on the golf course, and having everything grandparents could want for their grandkids. “We’re living the dream,” the retired basketball coach said.
Timber Banks also offers single-family estate home living. Reputable builders, such as Heritage Homes, are prepared to design and build your dream home within this unique community. Dan Bargabos, founder and president of Heritage Homes, said about Timber Banks, “I think it’s the most unique development in maybe all of New York State.”
To date, Timber Banks has sold about a dozen single-family estate homes and twice as many villas and cottages. But there is plenty of room for anyone else who wishes to join this unique community. “Come check us out!” Pooler said.
