PITTSFORD — Construction has started on a new townhouse neighborhood on East Avenue near St. John Fisher College. The project, called Kilbourn Place, will eventually include 41 luxury townhouses in three different styles, with prices starting at $450,000. Construction is expected to take about three years. The 4.75 acres of land were previously undeveloped. The three types of homes will be carriage homes, manor homes and townhouses, with one- and two-level floor plans ranging from 1,700 to 2,600 square feet. Riedman said the project will create jobs, boost the local economy and offer a style of housing not currently found in Pittsford. The carriage homes will be English Country style, the townhouses will be built in the Regency style, and the manor homes will be designed in the Georgian style. Riedman Companies took over the project in January 2011. A zoning amendment for the project first came before the Town Board in 2008, from a group called Kilbourn Place Associates. The lot was zoned residential in 1999 when the Marriott Corp. proposed building an assisted living facility there, but that plan fell through. Riedman said the company has obtained all the necessary approvals from the town, county and state. “It has been a collaborative effort with the town of Pittsford to ensure that Kilbourn Place embodies the historical architecture and culture of East Avenue,” Riedman said.
